This far North Dallas, TX whole home remodel and home addition is an amazing makeover. The Preston Trail home was purchased by an empty nester couple. They love to entertain and like to have their kids and grandkids over often, so their focus was to find a house where they could have the space to do that. They wanted a large open space on the main floor where their whole family could eat and play together, all while enjoying the view of the golf course and large backyard. The couple candidly let us know that they could have cared less about having the upstairs on that home and that they could cut off the 2nd floor and not miss it, so even though the house was already over 7000 sf, they added onto the main floor so the grandkids could have a space on the first floor. The Dallas home addition to the main floor on the rear of the home contains a game room, and a full bathroom, and bedroom.
When the home was built in 1990, the original downstairs layout didn’t take advantage of the back views. The homeowners really wanted to change the house so that the views could be seen and enjoyed from all angles of the home. The plan they came up with alongside their architect involved gutting and reconfiguring most of the downstairs to make it their own. The remodel removed the large winding staircase in the entry and removed the raised floor. All of the windows were replaced, they added sliding doors. A downstairs secondary bedroom was reconfigured into the primary bathroom and closet area. This custom remodel in Dallas also included a large kitchen remodel and reconfiguration. The owners wanted to be able to have a space that reflected their style and allowed them to entertain large and small crowds. The kitchen layout wasn’t right, so they chose to repurpose the kitchen nook into a laundry room and the remainder of the kitchen was gutted and reconfigured. All of the remaining bathrooms were remodeled to reflect the home’s new updated look and feel.
