We had remodeled these west Plano clients master bathroom previously and now they were ready to update their kitchen. They needed a general update but there were a few things in particular that weren’t functional to them anymore, as empty nesters. There was a large 6’ built-in desk in the kitchen that was more of an eye-sore than it was useful, so they wanted to reconfigure that into something that they would utilize. They also had a small wet bar that needed to be reconfigured because it opened up into the foyer. Beyond those two changes the basic layout stayed the same but everything was upgraded and updated!
In the kitchen, they took advantage of convenience when it comes to built-ins and pull-out drawers everywhere they could. They even put in an appliance garage with a pocket door, so the large appliances don’t have to be on the countertop or lifted from a lower cabinet. A beautiful custom stainless steel range hood with brass matte straps and rivets added a fashionable focal point to the kitchen. They closed off original door to the wet bar, as well as the wall opening into the living room. The new door was now in the kitchen, where the built-in desk once was, along with a new set of pantry cabinets. They added a wine fridge and a small built-in wine rack in the lower cabinets, as well as an ice maker. There was a desk wall between the kitchen and formal dining room that she wanted to keep but wanted to make it more functional, so a charging drawer and a hanging folder drawer were added. Glass inserts with decorative curved mullions were inserted into the upper cabinets for a custom updated look.
In the living room, the previous built-ins were removed and new ones built into the same wall. There is now open shelving running vertical on either side with dimmable LED strip lights inside the edges. The lower doors have mirrored fronts with curved mullions to tie in with the decorative cabinet fronts in the kitchen. We love our repeat clients!
