How to Build the Ultimate Backyard Oasis

DO YOUR RESEARCH
Scope out outdoor living magazines, friends’ backyards, find inspiration from hotels, create a Pinterest board, etc. Do anything and everything to determine what you want in your oasis so you never think “I wish I had THAT yard”. This will also help you to make better decisions when it comes to the planning process, helping to reduce cost, delays in building and choosing the right experts, such as an experienced pool builder.

VISUALIZE
What do you want your space to look like? Would you like lots of furniture or a more open area? Do you want a pool or an outdoor kitchen or both? Will there be a covered area or do you want a sun-filled space? There are SO many questions, but visualizing and coming up with a “rough draft” for the space will help immensely in the building and planning process. In addition, it can help your builder and designer to understand what your vision is and give you a jump start on the project.

EMBRACE AN OPEN SPACE
Larger spaces are becoming more common both inside and outside homes. Long gone is the need to section areas off for purpose, now is the time for large spaces. Outdoor patios got a makeover, and  just having a table and a couple chairs won’t cut it. To build the ultimate oasis, we are seeing the need for a yard or pool, an outdoor entertaining or seating area, as well as an outdoor BBQ/kitchen. We love large, glass doors that open to the backyard to create a seamless outdoor/indoor vibe.  P.S. Don’t worry about the weather, built-in space heaters and patio misting systems can be installed to make your outdoor oasis comfortable year-round.

NATURALLY ENHANCE
Flowers, bushes and trees are an amazing, long term way to provide color and warmth to your backyard. Trees provide beautiful, seasonal ambiance and shade above your oasis. Flowers that bloom seasonally give your yard natural decor that changes year round. We love Japanese cherry blossoms, large rosemary bushes and perhaps a lemon tree or two for the warmer times of the year.  Who doesn’t love a yard-to-table experience?

PRIVACY
Privacy is something rarely provided in many yards. We suggest adding tall, hedge fences for instant privacy. Plus they give your yard a European vacay vibe. Additionally, pergolas are a great way to add privacy and dimension to your space, creating different areas for the eye to focus on, as well as perhaps a more outdoor-indoor entertainment space.
