Chris was recognized for his leadership within the Greater Houston Builders Association(GHBA), and the Texas Association of Builders(TAB). He serves as both the GHBA Custom Builder Council Vice President and TAB Director and is recognized for his ability to connect with people, drive innovation, and co-lead a stellar team who delivers award-winning homes for our clients. The most beautiful homes of the past year are a combination of both substance and style. Our homes got more of a workout than ever, and those that stand out have rooms and decor that kept us happy, and healthy. If ever there was a year that our homes became our refuge, 2020 was it. They weren’t just a place to eat and sleep. They became our offices, our gyms and our classrooms. Design and style have always mattered, but a look back to the past 12 months show how our homes can make our lives easier with well organized pantries, home gyms, comfortable living spaces and kitchens we enjoy using, whether we’re making one more loaf of sourdough bread or a steaming pot of soul-enriching soup. With all of that in mind, here are my picks for the most beautiful homes of 2020. There’s a trend to have a single dining area rather than a formal dining room plus a breakfast room and this terrific dining room in the Memorial area home of Sandra and Carlos Carrasco is an example of perfect execution. They jokingly call it the fish bowl because of its many windows, but created a beautiful setting with a table made of a single sheet of steel bent on each end to create legs, and simple contemporary style chairs.

Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA)-PRISM Award for Best Custom Home Design ($2M and over)
For the second year in a row, Alair Homes Houston has taken home an award at the annual Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) Prism Awards. Award recipients are chosen by a panel of premier industry professionals from around the country. We were honored to be a finalist in 4 categories and awarded the Best Custom Home Design ($2M and over) prize. Our submission, Glen Cove, is an updated take on mid-century modern, offering many spaces to enjoy the outdoors both from inside and out. This multi-level custom home features an expansive open layout, gourmet kitchen, personal elevator, and various luxurious living spaces. The clients were looking to create a beautiful home that could accommodate the immediate family and would have ample space for entertaining guests.

Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA) - PRISM Award for Best Custom Home Design $2M - $1.5M
Proud winners of two of Houston’s Best PRISM Awards, awarded by the Greater Houston Builders Association. Award recipients are chosen by a panel of premier industry professionals from around the country. French inspired design from the exterior with beautiful brick slurry to the interior finishes: from the basketweave wood flooring inlayed with limestone that greets you in the entry and herringbone finish that ups the elegance in the kitchen, to the box beams throughout the downstairs and simple and sophisticated custom designed stair trim. The chef’s kitchen is adorned with a massive stone hood and an eat-in kitchen that allows the family to work and relax in a refined family space. The grand ceilings in the library continue the beam trim, and provides a bright space for reading or entertaining. Outdoor living spaces were meticulously planned throughout the home. A beautiful pool provides an backdrop to most of the rooms downstairs, and has living, dining and an outdoor kitchen.

Proud winners of two of Houston’s Best PRISM Awards, awarded by the Greater Houston Builders Association. Award recipients are chosen by a panel of premier industry professionals from around the country. This beautiful design is perfect for entertaining: with the kitchen opening into the family room. Porcelain countertops, stainless steel finishes and chef’s appliance package give this home a contemporary feel while mixing some more traditional elements like the timber beams and porcelain countertops. This extra large island suits the entertaining lifestyle, and showcases the beautiful materials.
