Traditional Whole House Remodel in University Park

Our clients purchased this home to accommodate their growing family in a neighborhood with the best school district in Dallas, Texas. The house was custom built in the eighties and the interior finishes were dated and did not reflect our client’s design preferences. We assembled a team to redesign the interior to reflect how they wanted the house to function and update the finishes to match their vision. Care was taken to respect the traditional architecture but transition to cleaner lines and a lighter color palette.

The kitchen was completely gutted and reconfigured to open to the family room. We added a large center island as well as a secondary serving island so their children could sit at the barstools and interact with their parents as they prepared family meals together. The kitchen includes custom shaker style painted cabinets, quartzite countertops, professional grade appliances and a beautiful arched millwork opening to the family room.

The powder bath was converted to a full bath so their parents could have a guest bedroom downstairs when they visited. The adjacent study doubles as a guest bedroom with the use of a Murphy style bed concealed inside the built-in cabinetry. Twin doors were added for privacy.

The master bath was gutted and slightly reconfigured to accommodate a larger two-person shower, furniture style cabinets and elegant tile finishes. The children’s bathrooms were all updated with whimsical tiles, countertops & wallcoverings.

Hardwood floors were refinished throughout. New carpet was installed in the upstairs bedrooms & game room and all areas were refreshed and updated. The family room fireplace mantel was replaced with an elegant cast stone surround. All the recessed can lighting was retrofitted to LED for better efficiency and color correctness.

This family is now enjoying raising their children in a beautiful home that not only functions better, but also reflect their vision and design preferences.
