Even though it can get pretty hot, Phoenix loves to stay active during the summer. There is no shortage of activities and events going on in the city during this season to keep kids, adults or families busy and doing something fun. If you need a break from your Alair Homes Phoenix kitchen renovation, or that beautiful outdoor living space is not quite complete, this is the perfect time to check out what the city has to offer. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Flashlight Tours at Desert Botanical Garden

Every Saturday Night from June through September the Desert Botanical Garden offers visitors a chance to experience the wonders of the desert at night. This way, they can escape the heat as well as witness the sights and sounds of the desert that can only be seen after dark. There are certain animals that come out at night and plants that bloom at night, making this a fun and informative activity for adults or children. Bring your own flashlight, and enjoy this fun activity for the cost of admission.

Prowl and Play at the Zoo

The theme for this prowl and play event is “Superheroes Unite” which means there will be meet and greets with favorite superheroes, as well as a DJ dance party, water slides and water features to keep you and your kids cool. The first event was scheduled for June 9th from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the zoo, but check the calendar to see when they might offer it again.

Fourth of July Events

There are a couple of different Fourth of July events in the area. The July 4th Tempe Town Lake Festival, located at the Tempe Beach Park, has lots of fun activities for the day. There will be rides, rock climbing walls, food courts and a music and fireworks show at night. It costs $5 for adults and is free for children under 12. In the city there will be a free event at the Steele Indian School Park with local entertainers, food, drinks, arts and crafts, exhibits, inflatables and a car show.

Real Wild and Woody Beer Festival

This annual event is located at the Phoenix Convention Center and features 65 different craft brewers offering over 350 craft beers. A $57 ticket gets attendees 20 beer sampling tickets and some food from local eateries. This event is on July 28th from 2:00 – 6:00 PM. It is mercifully located indoors, so you do not have to worry about the heat. The festival also offers live music, a silent disco, a rock wall and many other ways to entertain yourself while you drink and eat.

Diamondbacks Games

The Diamondbacks play tons of games during the summer, many of which are home games. Their stadium is located in the downtown area, and they have several home games every month all the way through September. For sports fans, this is the perfect way to spend an evening and support a local team. Tickets are usually very reasonably priced, and information on prices and scheduling can be found on their website very easily.
