Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State Park is about 90 minutes east of Cleveland in Erie, Pennsylvania. It is a 6-mile-long peninsula that goes straight into Lake Erie with sand on all sides. The park offers 13 different beaches to visit with lifeguards present. It also includes elements like concession stands, bathhouses, playgrounds, volleyball courts, bike rentals, boat tours, hiking trails, and so much more. This is a great beach summer getaway filled with relaxation and beaches galore. There are a lot of local hotels to choose from or you can choose to camp out. If you are looking for a little fun mixed with a lot of relaxation, this is the place for you.

Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio is a highly sought out amusement park that people drive far and wide from to visit. Luckily for us, it’s only about 90 minutes from Cleveland! Cedar Point has some of the fastest, tallest, and most amazing roller coasters on the planet, but has so much more to offer. It is situated on Lake Erie and there are hotels surrounding it with lake front views and beaches. Cedar Point has their own hotels with the best and earliest access to the amusement park or you can choose to book surrounding hotels. There are also several indoor and outdoor water parks in the area like Kalahari, Great Wolf Lodge, and Cedar Point’s own Shores Water Park. This is a great getaway if you are looking for an action packed and fun getaway.

Put-In-Bay and Kelleys Island

Another great option for a summer getaway is visiting the islands, which are only about an 80-minute drive from Cleveland and a short ferry ride away. The most popular islands to visit are Put-In-Bay and Kelleys Island. Put-In-Bay is known for their night life and a much younger crowd; yet it has camp areas, wineries, and less populated areas to enjoy. For a more relaxing getaway, Kelleys Island is the better option. There are plenty of events held on both islands throughout the summer that you can view on their websites. Both islands have hotels and cabins that you can rent for your getaway and offer beautiful lake views. There are two main ferries to take over which are the Miller Ferry and Jet Express and depart from Port Clinton and Catawba. No matter what type of getaway you are looking for these islands are sure to have it!
