Wedged between downtown Tampa, picturesque Bayshore Boulevard, and the University of Tampa off the Hillsborough River, you’ll find Historic Hyde Park. This upscale neighborhood sits in the heart of South Tampa. We explore all the reasons to call this coveted area home.

This Tampa neighborhood is the perfect blend of beautiful houses, stunning views, and walkable proximity to shops, restaurants, and even Tampa Bay Lightning games. Let’s see why Living Better Starts Here™.

The Rich History of Hyde Park

Developed in the 1880s, Historic Hyde Park took shape after railroad financier Henry B. Plant constructed the first bridge crossing the Hillsborough River

The area continued to grow over the following decades, drawing visitors to Plant’s Tampa Bay Hotel. James Watrous built the neighborhood’s first house in 1882 on Morrison Ave.

Historic Homes

The Hyde Park neighborhood boasts beautiful bungalows and charming historic homes, and it is also a prime location for remodeling and home additions. You will find everything from condos and expansive single-family estates to simple craftsman homes and more contemporary builds in this neighborhood.

As a custom home builder in Hyde Park, our team at Alair South Tampa understands the historic characteristics of this vibrant neighborhood and can build a fully custom home to match the style of the community but with our own unique touch.

At every stage of the process, we utilize the best trade partners and the highest quality materials to build a home that exceeds expectations. Living Better Starts Here and our goal is to build a home that is the model of elegance, class, and livability.

Luxurious Lifestyle

Hyde Park has something for everyone. Families enjoy the playground, basketball court, and splash pad at Anderson Park, short walks to grab ice cream, and the festive lights on South Boulevard during the holidays. Professionals of all ages are close to businesses and meeting spots such as membership-only Hyde House Public Studio, a curated workspace that offers co-working areas, private offices, and event spaces.

Tampa General, a Level I Trauma hospital, is minutes away on Davis Islands. Plus, residents enjoy jogging, running, cycling, skating, and dog walking along Bayshore Boulevard, on the longest uninterrupted pedestrian sidewalk in the world at 4.5 miles.

Bayshore Boulevard is also where you can watch the Gasparilla Parade, St Paddy’s Day River O’Green and frequent boat parades for the Tampa Bay Lightning and Tampa Bay Bucs sporting trophies.

As you can see, this is one of the best places in South Tampa to call home. When your idea of a dream home includes the ability to walk to many options and waving to neighbors as they lounge on their front porches, look no further than the Hyde Park area to build your custom abode.

Shopping & Dining Galore

There is no shortage of walkable boutiques and eateries in the area. Hyde Park Village offers some of Tampa’s hottest restaurants and cafes, chic shops, and family-friendly events. There’s always something to be a part of here.

Building in Historic Hyde Park

Home to expansive historic homes and charming bungalows, the Hyde Park area is experiencing rapid expansion and revitalization. Many homeowners are renovating their current homes or starting from scratch with a custom home to maximize their home’s functionality while staying true to the historic architectural elements in the area.

In the case of teardowns, small bungalows are often replaced by modern custom homes designed to include historic design elements as well as highly-efficient eco-friendly features.

Keep in mind, Hyde Park is a National Register Historic District, and the Architectural Review Commission of Hyde Park requires all new construction and renovations to fit in with the look and feel of the historic neighborhood.
