Preston Hollow 60's Home Update

Weeburn Kitchen, Dining and Living spaces

Our clients purchased this 1963 home in the Preston Hollow neighborhood, in Dallas, that had never been updated. They wanted to redesign the central living area, which included the kitchen, formal dining area, and living room/den.

The original kitchen was small and completely closed off from the rest of the house. They wanted to repurpose the formal living room into the new formal dining room. They also wanted to open the kitchen up to the den and add a large island with seating for casual dining. They didn’t want a completely open concept living space though, so the designers had to be creative. They wanted to keep some walls for their fun, one-of-a-kind New Orleans artwork and they did not want to be able to see the kitchen from the entryway. They also wanted a built-in bar area somewhere—they just weren’t sure where. Our designers did an amazing job on this not so straight forward project, figuring out where to cut and keep walls, where to replace windows with doors, and how to bring the outdoors in to really brighten up the entire space! The original den is now a nice living room open to the new beautiful kitchen, with a great view of their new pool. The formal dining now has a built-in bar where the china hutch used to be that backs up to a new large walk-in pantry. This Dallas couple loves entertaining (or just relaxing) in their new beautiful living spaces!
