Alair Homes can help create a new kitchen space in your house that you can call “the heart of your home,” and then it is up to you to give it that special touch each day, and what better way than with the pleasant and soothing scents of aromatherapy essential oils.

Eco-Friendly Scents

Essential Oils have a wide extension of uses, from creating a therapeutic personalized scent to making eco-friendly cleaning products, soothing aches and pains, as cooking ingredients, and many more. In this multi-part series on using oils to enhance everyday life, we will offer easy-to-use instructions on how to use essential oils and enjoy the benefits.

This month’s oils topic is how to bring forth the natural aromas that blend with the color of your kitchen. In a recent Alair Homes Victoria kitchen remodel project, the walls were painted with an invigorating green, and to counteract the after-paint odor, the owner asked for 1 TSP of basil oil to be added to each gallon of paint. Oils are effective with any paint color; the trick is to match the color of the oil with the color of the paint, as shown in the following chart.

To promulgate the scents, put a drop of oil on a light bulb, and the heat will slowly vaporize out the lovely aromas and fill the room. Place some on the stove-top before cooking, or in the overhead fan light bulb, and when the lights come on the fragrance will make the people in the room feel uplifted and refreshed.

And finally, to fully immerse a space with the scents, a plug-in diffuser placed inconspicuously in your kitchen will fill the air with that special extra flavor to make that new living space your own. The perfect essential oil products can be found online at specialty websites like www.mydoterra.com/scarletoils, in healthy living stores, and most pharmacies.

Stay tuned, next month’s essential oils article will feature eco-friendly and home-made cleaning elements.
