Combining Interior Space and Exterior Space

Most homes have a very clear line between outside and inside – the wall. You know when you are inside, and have a barrier to enjoy the outside. But when that wall can be removed with a flick of the switch, and a seamless space emerges combining the interior and the space outside, its magic.
I love planning homes that transcend the ordinary. The experience one has if you can live in one of these new designs is like the anticipation, adventure and surprise of the amazing when traveling. Getting to experience that at home, and share it with family and friends is outstanding.
These systems can be designed into conventional wood frame homes or houses made with light gauge steel. It’s all in the panning. Unlike big doors, accordion doors, or sliding doors, the idea here is there is no door – what appears to be a glass wall slides quietly to open the entire expanse of the wall to that view you paid so much money for.

Winning the Innovation “Award for Architecture and Building” in 2009, Keller AG launched Keller Minimal Windows. Based in Luxemburg, this company serves most countries and delivers outstanding engineering and quality that put their wall systems in a league of their own. Displayed this year at the IDS West show in Vancouver by their Western Canadian agent, Graham Blake of Tidalliving, was an impressive 12 foot high by 40 foot long display that opened and closed and auto locked with a click of the switch.
