Alair Homes Vancouver is going to be lucky enough to begin a major renovation to an animal hospital that has been around for over 55 years. Although we are thrilled and excited to begin work on this project, it doesn’t come without some major hurdles.

Dealing with Wild Animals During a Major Renovation

The changing and replacing of the materials within the building are not what I am concerned with (even though many have been there for half a century). Or the fact that the hospital will be open the entire time we renovate. The largest hurdle that we face is ensuring the animals within the building still receive the same treatment and care they always have here. Upon many of our preliminary visits to the animal hospital we have been introduced to so many different animals from lizards, to pigs, to regular cats and dogs. I even met a bald eagle! All of these animals needed medical help in all sorts of degrees and construction dust and noise is usually not what the doctor ordered.

Alair Home’s Stage Approach

So Alair Homes has come up with a plan of completing the project in stages. Closing off certain areas of the building while the rest remains open. Before we begin each stage, temporary walls will be constructed to reduce the potential for construction debris entering the hospital as well as sound reducing insulation added to reduce the noise. Once we complete a section, the walls are removed and installed where the next part of the renovation will begin.

Although this style of renovation may not be the most efficient, closing down the hospital while we work is impossible. These animals and there owners have trusted the doctors and staff of this building for well over fifty years and Alair is not about to ruin their reputation by closing its doors to its customers.

Rising to meet these unique challenges is just what Alair Homes is all about. Tapping into the needs and wants of our clients is what we strive to achieve for, all well delivering a product that exceeds there expectations. It will be a tricky job but that will only make the completion of it that much more rewarding.
